Sustainability Backed by Data

Supported by Global Investment

The World Bank has allocated $50 million in funding to help cement plants transition to VIRINA grinding balls under a 6-month open payment term — a testament to the proven value and potential of this innovation.

Reducing Carbon Emissions at the Source
Grinding ball production is a major contributor to industrial COâ‚‚ emissions, second only to cement production itself. Traditional grinding media can generate:

  • 1.83 tons of COâ‚‚ per ton of steel balls

  • 90 tons of COâ‚‚ annually per mill (from wear, energy use, and waste)

VIRINA grinding balls, with their durable composition and low wear rate (just 3 tons annually), produce only 5 tons of COâ‚‚ per year — a reduction of over 85% compared to traditional media.

Extended Equipment Life & Energy Savings

Built to Last. Engineered to Save.

  • Mill liner life extended up to 4x

  • Lower exterior mill temperatures (185°F vs. 196°F)

  • Energy savings of over 400 MBTUs annually

  • Estimated annual savings: $125,000 in energy costs

Deformation in traditional balls leads to inefficient grinding and accelerated wear on mill components. VIRINA’s spherical design minimizes these impacts, helping plants operate more efficiently and sustainably.

The Smart Upgrade

Precision That Pays Off

  • No deformation

  • No rejected media

  • Lower emissions

  • Extended liner life

  • Long-term operational savings
